In the 50’s it was a common practice to feature a 13 week summer replacement for popular TV series. This gave the networks a chance to preview new shows rather than rerun the replacement series. In 1959 popular movie star David Niven hosted such a replacement with a drama anthology series that aired on NBC on Tuesday nights.
